Dakota stands for "Design and Analysis toolKit for Optimization and Terascale Applications" and it is a general purpose optimization toolbox mostly developed by Sandia National Laboratories.

Dakota is a general-purpose software toolkit for performing systems analysis and design on high performance computers. Dakota provides algorithms for design optimization, uncertainty quantification, parameter estimation, design of experiments, and sensitivity analysis, as well as a range of parallel computing and simulation interfacing services.

As a part of Stevens Institute of Technology, Davidson Laboratory has a 95 meters long towing tank and rotating arm and oblique sea basins.

Defcar System is a suite of CAD/CAM software for ship design and shipbuilding. It provides a software to design and fair the hull, obtain all kind of naval architecture calculations, expand the hull plates, model the internal structure and finally, to nest and prepare the NC files for the cutting machine.

Delftload is an on board stability calculation program for almost any type of vessel. Loading conditions generated with Delftload are analyzed using a accurate 3D computer model of the ship.

DELFTship Free is a fully functional 3D hullform modeling program perfectly suited for students, home users or anyone else with an interest in ship design.

DELFTship Professional is a hullform modeler using the same modeling kernel as the DELFTship Free. It is extended with extra features such as automated fairing algorithms and additional import/export formats.

DFform is the surface modeling module of Defcar System and uses surfaces for defining vessel forms. It allows the definition of the vessel in a continuous three-dimensional way.

DFhydro is the naval architecture calculations module of Defcar system. The vessel hydrostatic and stability characteristics are calculated, undamaged or damaged, as in calm water as in waves of any length and height.

DFpipe is the piping and plant design module of the Defcar System and has been fully integrated to the Defcar's database.

DFshell is the shell expension module of Defcar system. The definition of all these elements (from decks to seams, butts and girders) is always done in a graphic and interactive way.

DFstruc is the vessel structure edition module. All the pieces from the vessel structure, including all its details and marks, can be obtained by means of this module.

DGA Hydrodynamics (formerly Bassin d'Essaies des Carénes) is a testing center and research in hydrodynamics and ship hydroacoustic, dependent on the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) of the French Ministry of Defence.
